Our Vision
"Haba na haba, hujaza kibaba"
“A thousand begins with one” ~ Swahili Proverb ~
Our Vision
is to work in partnership with women leaders of survivor and grassroots organisations and draw on their collective strength to advocate for survivor-centered justice solutions, systemic policy changes and more equitable structures for women.
Our Mission
is to connect these women through a support network, equip them through training and capacity building, and facilitate their access to key decision-making platforms to amplify their voices.
Our Goal
is to end the invisibility of women survivor leaders, to position them as change agents and opinion leaders and to create opportunities for them to shape public attitudes on ending violence against women and the rights of survivors.
How We Do It
In most conflict-affected regions in the Global South, many community-based organizations and movements are led by women who work to support thousands of survivors and their families. Many women leaders are survivors of sexual and gender-based violence whose intimate knowledge of suffering and trauma allows them to understand the challenges experienced by other survivors. These women lead authentically and passionately, working tireless and creatively to support other women and children but often lack the technical skills and key strategies for managing their organizations. These community leaders need tangible support and tools to help them to lead effectively, and many of us have the resources and skills to assist them and promote their efforts to develop their communities.
Feminist Leadership
We embody leadership that is heartfelt, collaborative, intuitive, relational and supportive.
Authentic Self-expression
We cherish each individual's uniqueness and assist our members to discover their voice and be who they really are.
Participatory Involvement
We foster full, equal and meaningful involvement of our members, beneficiaries and partners in the organization.
Accountability & Responsibility
We adhere to principles of transparency and accountability in all our work and relationships.
Survivor-centered Development
We ensure that the rights of victims and survivors, particular women survivors of violence are central to our work.
Safety & Dignity
We take care that they are treated with dignity and their views are respected, advanced and protected.
